Help your child learn autumn-fall related words and beginning letter sounds with this cute FREE pumpkin matching game printable!
Children join the two halves of the pumpkins so that the images match the beginning letters of the words. There are two levels of difficulty, so you can choose according to your child’s age.
There are 10 words included in this set: apple, bat, brown, leaf, orange, pumpkin, red, spider, tree, and yellow.
We’ve got more resources for practising autumn / fall vocabulary that you can use together with this printable, like our Autumn-Fall Pocket Flashcards and some simple Autumn-Fall Word Puzzles. See end of post for all our related freebies!
How to use the Pumpkin Puzzle – Beginning Letter Sounds Matching Game:
- Download the printable (see download box below). Choose the level of difficulty appropriate for your child. Look for these symbols:
Appropriate for preschool children (age 3 – 4). Each pumpkin has different shaped cutting lines so there is only one possible way to join each half. Words that begin with the same letter have the same puzzle shape.
Appropriate for Kindergarten children (age 5). Pumpkins are cut straight in half making matching more challenging!
- Print your chosen set of pumpkins on glossy photo paper or card for printers. Cut out each pumpkin and then cut along the centre lines of each. We recommend laminating for durability.
