Use this simple, FREE printable to play a fun hide and seek game with little ones and practise numbers vocabulary! Using blu-tac, stick the worm under one of the apples and have the children try to guess which number apple it’s hiding under. Is it under number 2? Lift up the flap to see if they’re right! Not there? Keep guessing! Once they’ve found the cheeky little worm, you can move it under a different apple and play the game as many times as you like.
This printable is a simple, fun way for little kids to practise identifying and saying number words, but if you wanted to practise colours vocabulary you could colour the apples different colours. I’ve also given you two styles to choose from: 4 flaps or 5 flaps!
Once you’ve played the game with your kids, they can make one for themselves. Both styles are really easy to construct and they’ll love hiding the worm under the flaps.
You can tie this game in with autumn/fall themes, or fruits units. We’ve got more resources for practising fruits vocabulary that you can use together with this printable, like our fruits flashcards or our apple stamp garland craft. See the end of the post for more!
How to use the Apple and Worm Hide and Seek Printable:
- Download the printable (see download box below). Choose your preferred style: Style 1 makes 5 flaps, Style 2 makes 4 flaps.
- For best results print on white card. You can use normal printer paper, but it might be possible to see the worm through the paper!
- Children colour the apples, cut along the solid black lines and fold along the dotted lines. Make sure they fold so that the apples are on the outside!
- Print and cut out the worms and put some blu-tack on the back. Give each child one to stick under the pictures and have fun playing Apple and Worm hide and seek!
